Platelets are our body’s first responders to injury. They activate a cascade of physiological mechanisms conducive to healing and regeneration of tissues. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) release growth factors, stem cells and cytokines (cell messengers), which signal tissues to regenerate, restore and rebuild skin cells. PRP and PRFM procedures are utilized in aesthetic medicine to restore skin collagen and elastin, thus improving skin quality and overall healthy appearance.

why is prfm better than prp?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) contains 5 times greater amount of platelets than the blood circulating in the human body; while the concentration of platelets in PRFM is 10 times greater. PRP remains in the injected area for about 24 hours; whereas PRFM stays productive in the area for one week to slowly release growth factors necessary for restoration of skin tissues. PRFM requires less blood volume compared to PRP, exerts more healing factors, while inflicting less trauma to individual cells.

how is the prfm treatment performed?

The process begins with a blood draw. The blood is collected into tubes which are spun at a very high speed in a centrifuge. This process separates blood cells (red cells, white cells) from plasma, which contains activated platelets, growth factors, stem cells, and cell messengers. PRP is then transferred into a tube which contains calcium chloride which converts the PRP into PRFM (Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix). PRFM turns into a gel-like matrix after about 1o minutes, allowing it actively recruit growth factors and stem cells to promote a healing cascade for one week.

Ultrasound is a tool that we use to assess the precise location of arteries and veins, as everyone’s anatomy varies. By avoiding arteries and veins, we can prevent bruising and vascular complications.

We use micro cannulas to inject PRP or PRFM into the face or neck. After cleansing the skin area, we numb the skin with Lidocaine and then create an opening or a skin puncture with a needle. Through this opening we insert a cannula, which is a blunt instrument similar to IV catheter. The cannula feels like pressure rather than pain. It is likely for clients to have mild swelling, which gradually improves as the body reabsorbs the PRP or PRFM. Growth factors, stem cells and cell messengers begin to stimulate the production of new and healthy cells.

why add healite?

Ever wonder why a plant grows better with fertilizer and sunlight? Imagine what your tomatoes would look like if it was grown in soil with only water, but no fertilizer or sunlight…it probably wouldn’t produce many tomatoes if any. Platelet therapy produces completely natural results that gradually improves over time. Every individuals’ immune response varies. Typically subtle results can be seen within one month, but continues to gradually improve over six months.

how many PRFM treatments will i need?

For the best results, we recommend a series of treatments, two to three treatments four weeks apart. A boost treatment four to six months later will enhance your results. Areas commonly treated include tear trough (under eye) area, but we highly recommend treating the entire face for the optimal results.

What should I do to prepare for treatment with prfm?

We recommend starting to prepare 7-10 days prior to treatment. Eating a well balanced diet, staying well hydrated, and getting plenty of rest will prepare you for production of healthy platelets, which live about seven to ten days. Being well hydrated will increase the amount of circulating blood in your body and will make the blood draw process easier. 24 hours prior to your appointment, please avoid steroids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as Ibuprofen or Advil. NSAIDs and steroids interfere with the desired inflammatory response of your body, which is intended to regenerate your skin tissue.

post-care: what should i do after treatment with prfm?

To reduce swelling, we recommend staying well hydrated, reducing sodium in your diet and sleeping with the head elevated on a few pillows. Please avoid steroids and NSAID medications (such as Motrin or Advil) for 1 week after the treatment as this will blunt the body’s immune response to the platelet therapy.

You can further boost your immune system by maintaining a healthy diet, sleep and exercise routine. We recommend taking Vitamin C (2 gm daily for 1 week) and eating 1 mg/kg of protein.

WHAT IS A NEUROMODULATOR (BOTOX, DYSPORT)?

what is the difference between botox & dysport?

Both Botox and Dysport contain Botulinum toxin Type A (BoNT-A). Botox is manufactured by Allergan, while Dysport is manufactured by Galderma. All BoNT-A products have the same size and weight of active neurotoxin. However, Botox and Dysport have different accessory protein complex components. Dysport is known to have a faster onset of action. 30% of patients have some response to Dysport within 24 hours, 73.3% have response within 48 hours, and 86.7% have response within 72 hours. However, the full effect of either Dysport or Botox will be apparent after 2 full weeks.

For most people, Botox and Dysport lasts for about 3 months. For many patients, Dysport also has a longer duration of action compared with Botox, sometimes up to 4-5 months. Results will vary depending on your individual muscle size, strength, and activity, among other factors.

WHAT ELSE CAN botox or dysport TREAT BESIDES WRINKLES?

• Gummy smile - showing too much gums when smiling can be alleviated by relaxing the muscles that elevate when you smile.

• TMJ - teeth grinding or clenching causing jaw soreness can be improved by relaxing the masseter muscles that help with chewing.

• Uneven facial expressions - stronger muscles causing uneven facial expressions can be relaxed to create symmetry.

• Facial contouring - muscles tend to atrophy (shrink) after repeat dosing of neuromodulators. Thus jawline slimming can be achieved after treating the masseter muscles that help control chewing.

WHAT TO EXPECT with botox or dysport treatment?

Reducing the use of facial muscles with a neuromodulator can help smooth the appearance of facial expression lines for 3 to 4 months. Duration varies between individuals and may be affected by your metabolic rate.

During consultation, your provider at Rejuve Medspa will discuss your medical history, observe animation of your facial muscles, and develop your treatment plan. After marking targeted muscles with brow pencil, you will be injected with Botox or Dysport using a very small gauge needle. Due to the proper technique and fine size of the needle, the discomfort is minimal. You may have slight redness at the injection site, which disappears in less than an hour after treatment.

IS THIS botox or dysport RIGHT FOR ME?

Botox Cosmetic is FDA approved for adults for temporality improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead and lines around the eyes known as crow’s feet. Off label use includes correction of “gummy smile”, lip lines known as “smoker’s lines”, wrinkling in the area of chin, and injection in masseter (muscle involved in chewing) for the purposes of slimming effect as well as relief of clenching and teeth grinding.

This treatment is not recommended for individuals who have infection at the proposed injection site, during pregnancy or lactation, anyone with known hypersensitivity, or in presence of certain neurological diseases. 

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME with botox or dysport?

Besides the possibility of mild redness at the injection site lasting less than an hour, this procedure is considered to have no downtime. We recommend abstaining from massaging the area, lying down flat and avoiding vigorous physical activity for about 4 hours after the treatment to prevent migration of the product from strategically injected areas.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT RESULTS with botox or dysport?

While the effects of an injection are not immediately apparent, results are visible after a few days. However, the full effect takes 14 days before you appreciate the final outcome.

WHEN SHOULD I FOLLOW UP?

FDA treatment recommended doses come in ranges. If you are a new client, we will start you on the lower end of the therapeutic range and will reassess in two weeks if you would require additional Botox enhancement. emsculpt plus exilis - what are the benefits?

EMSCULPT is a unique device that uses High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Energy to build muscle AND eliminate fat at the same time. It’s like doing 20,000 sit-ups in 30 minutes. On average, you can achieve 19% in abdominal fat reduction and 16% increase in muscle after 4 treatments.

EXILIS combines radiofrequency and ultrasound to burn fat and tighten skin. The advantage of EXILIS is that it can target certain areas where EMSCULPT cannot reach, like the love handles and bra rolls. EXILIS can be customized to burn fat, tighten skin, or both.

Why combine EMSCULPT and EXILIS?

Combining EMSCULPT and EXILIS can produce a greater level of fat reduction and muscle building than either EMSCULPT or EXILIS alone. EXILIS can also treat areas that EMSCULPT cannot such as the inner thighs, love handles and bra rolls. We can customize your treatment depending on your area(s) of concern. What can I expect with emsculpt & exilis treatment?

EMSCULPT feels like intense muscle contractions. Your provider can titrate the intensity of the muscle contractions based on individual needs and comfort levels. The HIFEM contractions are equivalent to doing 20,000 sit-ups in 30 minutes. You might have mild muscle soreness after EMSCULPT, but most people do not. This is because EMSCULPT alternates between intense contractions and tapping which helps to release lactic acid build up in the muscles caused by the intense contractions.

EXILIS feels like a hot stone massage. Controlled heating and cooling ensure that energy is delivered to the various depths in the tissue. Volumetric heating disrupts old collagen fibers and initiates the process of new collagen formation resulting in firmer and smoother skin. Some people might experience mild skin redness, swelling, tenderness or dryness, but this is temporary.

Both treatments are non-invasive, safe, and comfortable. For optimal results, a series of 4 treatments 1 week apart is recommended. We also recommend that you drink 2 liters of water the day before and 1.5 liters of water on the day of treatment to help improve the elimination of dead fat cells through your lymphatic system. Wear loose clothing and avoid clothing with zippers or metal.

Is the EMSCULPT/EXILIS combo treatment right for me?

It’s best to schedule a consultation with our doctor or nurse practitioner to determine if you are the right candidate for treatment. EMSCULPT and EXILIS should be avoided if you have metal implants in your spine, pacemaker/defibrillator, implanted medication pumps, copper IUD, or pregnancy.

Is there any downtime with emsculpt or exilis?

There is no downtime with either EMSCULPT or EXILIS. You can get back to your normal activities right away.

When can I expect to see results with emscupt & exilis?

Results can vary from person to person. In general, it takes about 1 month to notice results. Results can continue to improve for 3 months and tends to remain stable for about 1 year. We recommend a healthy balanced diet and regular exercise to help maintain the muscle and keep off the fat.

When should I follow up?

It is a good idea to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine. We are here to answer your questions any time. Maintenance treatments are recommended quarterly (1 treatment every 3 months).

why it really matters

I know what you’re thinking… looks like a busy ceiling. So what’s the big deal? Designing a medical spa during the height of COVID-19 pandemic had it’s perks. We had a lot of time to think about safety…

Since COVID-19 and many other viruses are transmitted mainly through the respiratory system, what could be more important than breathing clean air? So we hired the best engineers to design a state-of-the-art HVAC system. Many thanks to the talented engineers at Robison Engineers who really stepped up to the challenge. Also a big thanks to the great team at Lynnwood Heating for installing the system and ensuring its continual quality and upkeep.

The Engineers at Robison can explain it best, but the basic concept is: CLEAN air comes in from the outside; inside air gets filtered through the IQAir filter and is pushed outside. No “dirty” air recirculates into any of the rooms. Our HVAC system also transfers the heat from outgoing treated air to incoming fresh air constantly.

Hats off to anyone who can interpret the intricate HVAC plans below. The rest of us will just have to have faith in the professionals who are experts in their field!

This is 100 times smaller than what is achieved with ordinary air filtration technology and 10 times smaller than a virus.”

“Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns, make up about 90% of all airborne particles, and have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma, and even cancer. • Appointment: We are taking clients by appointment only while the COVID-19 infection rates remain high and vaccination rates remain low. So please call for an appointment first.

• Questionnaire & Consent: You will be asked to complete a questionnaire to screen for high risk signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

• Temperature check will be part of the screening process.

• Direct to Room: Clients will be escorted to a comfortable treatment room immediately upon check-in.

• Masks Required: Our staff will be wearing KN95 Masks. We ask that all clients also wear a mask upon entering the spa and throughout their entire stay, unless their treatment requires temporary removal of mask.

• Cleaning Standards: We strive to meet the cleaning standards set forth by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). We factor in ample time between clients to thoroughly clean the rooms and disinfect all equipment.

• Clean Air: Our state-of-the-art HVAC and IQAir filtration system will help ensure that viral pathogens are filtered out, and there is no cross-contamination from room to room.

Behind the beautiful wood slats are a series of complex interconnecting ducts, vents, fans and filters to ensure that viral and bacterial pathogens are purged. Clean air is transferred in from outside. Contaminated air does not recirculate into any of the rooms.

The countertops are made of quartz - a non-porous material that does not absorb moisture or bacteria which helps to prevent the spread of germs.

The backsplash appears to be stone, but is actually made of porcelain which is a hardy material that also has a very low absorption rate. Porcelain tile is virtually impervious to moisture and is easy to maintain and clean.

Also notice the touchless faucets. Later additions will include touchless soap dispensers and hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the spa.
